Zach Black is an Austin, Texas–based vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist driven by one philosophy: no boundaries.

Raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Black grew up surrounded by great musicians and the influence of the island’s vibrant music culture. He began playing in church and spent his early years working at a small local guitar shop, constantly around instruments, players, and the craft of making music. Encouraged by the musicians around him, he soon found himself playing in bands and developing the foundation of the performer he would become. A lifelong Texas Longhorns fan, Black eventually found his way to Austin and the University of Texas, stepping directly into one of the most legendary music scenes in the world.

Black has performed as a vocalist, guitarist, ukulele player, bassist, drummer, and songwriter across projects spanning reggae, hip-hop, world music, punk, and rock. He first gained wider recognition as the frontman of the indie-punk band Souls Extolled, whose album SOULSEX, produced with Frenchie Smith at The Bubble Recording, earned coverage from The Austin Chronicle and KUTX. Extensive touring across the United States, along with years of regional shows and festival appearances, helped build Black’s reputation as a powerhouse vocalist and electrifying live performer.

His shows range from original rock performances to reggae-driven acoustic sets and explosive classic-rock tributes — including fan-favorite Ozzy and Black Sabbath sets where Black unleashes the full force of his voice and delivers the kind of wild, high-energy performances that leave audiences stunned.

In his original projects, Black assembles bands featuring some of Austin’s most respected musicians, combining tight musicianship with the unpredictable energy of true rock and roll. Much of his music is written and forged in the Den of Heathens, his Austin-based home studio and creative headquarters, where he develops new material while also offering rehearsal space, recording services, live sound engineering, PA support, and consulting for fellow musicians and events.

With new recordings currently in production, Zach Black is preparing the release of a highly anticipated upcoming album, the next evolution of a sound shaped by years of touring, experimentation, and fearless creativity — always guided by the same philosophy that started it all: no boundaries.

Built around a love of vintage tone, modern recording tools, and a deep understanding of live performance, the Den serves as both a production space and a hub for collaboration within the local music community.
