Zach Black Plans to Continue Hard Rock Cover Band Following Standout Ozzy Performances Across Austin

After a series of standout performances paying tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and the golden era of hard rock, Austin vocalist Zach Black has confirmed plans to continue developing his hard rock cover band project alongside his original music work heading into 2026.

Black, known for his powerful vocal delivery and theatrical stage presence, delivered a run of high-energy sets at several of Austin’s most respected live music venues, including Hotel Vegas, Flamingo Cantina, and 3TEN ACL Live. The performances featured iconic material from Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, and other foundational artists whose influence continues to shape modern rock music.

While Black has historically focused on original material through projects such as Souls Extolled and his current solo work, audience response to the recent shows has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with fans and venue partners encouraging him to continue performing classic hard rock repertoire.

Backing Black is what he describes as his “Dream Team” — an all-star group of Austin musicians including Dave North, Phoenix Knight, Andy Leonard, and Joe Valadez. Together, the group has built a reputation for delivering tight, high-impact performances that capture both the technical precision and larger-than-life energy associated with classic hard rock’s most iconic frontmen.

According to Black, the decision to continue the cover band project came as a direct response to repeated audience demand.

“I never originally set out to perform covers as a primary focus,” Black explained. “But after these shows, it became clear that people really wanted more of this material performed live, and they wanted it delivered with the same level of intensity and authenticity as the originals. It’s been incredibly rewarding to bring this music to audiences who clearly still connect with it in a big way.”

The hard rock cover band will continue to operate alongside Black’s original music releases under his solo artist name, as well as his acoustic island-reggae performances and other live music offerings. Industry observers note that this dual-track approach allows Black to maintain creative momentum on original projects while also meeting demand for high-quality performances of classic material.

With strong turnout at recent performances and continued interest from venues across Austin, the project appears poised to remain a regular feature of Black’s live calendar moving forward.

As the Austin live music scene continues to evolve, Zach Black’s blend of original artistry, professional musicianship, and high-energy interpretations of classic rock staples positions him as one of the more versatile performers currently working across multiple formats in the local market.

Additional performance announcements are expected in early 2026.
